BCL completed a comprehensive pre-design report for the Town to address shortfalls in their sewage treatment and collection system. Potential solutions were complicated by land constraints, regulatory setbacks, acquisition of land and available budget.
BCL worked not only with the Town, but also with the Water Security Agency (for an acceptable phased solution. Phase I consisted of approximately 800 m of deep bury trunk sewage main. Phase II of the project included the design of a large storage cell to meet the Town’s 220 day storage requirement. Phase III consisted of the addition of aeration to the existing primary cell of the lagoon to improve the treatment capacity.
This project was unique in that the Ministry of Environment was brought into the process early to ensure that the upgrades and phased implementation met their approval. |
